Robin
Hood Foundation delivers Christmas cheer to Athlone
Afterschools
On
Friday last Athlone Community Taskforce received a very
welcome gift of sports equipment, computers and classroom
furniture from the Robin Hood Foundation in Athlone, The
equipment will be used in the three ACT afterschools projects,
in Battery Heights, Monksland and Parnell Square / Connaught
Street. ACT Chief Executive Officer, Frank Murtagh, stated
that to get support from the Robin Hood Foundation was a
massive boost to the project. “We get excellent support from
ADM/EOCP, FAS, Westmeath VEC and DSFA for other aspects of the
project but this was one area where were unable to access
funding up to now. ACT is very grateful to the Robin Hood
Foundation for coming forward and supporting the After Schools
Project”
The
After Schools Manager, Sinead Casey expressed her delight
also, saying that the amount of activities available to the
children can now be expanded and the number of children
availing of the services of our After Schools will continue to
grow.
Robin Hood Secretary Anthony Denby said “I am
grateful for the support of everyone who has participated in
our events during the year. Christmas is a special time for
all the children in our Community and we are very happy to
have made a small gesture of help to the wonderful work being
done by the ACT team. Special thanks must go to Keenan Sports
for making our contribution go so much farther than we had
anticipated.”
The one year old
Robin Hood Foundation targets the needy in the Midlands by
finding and funding the best community-based groups and
partnering with them to maximize results. The board
underwrites all administrative and fundraising costs so 100%
of donations go directly to making a difference to peoples
lives.
